Son Em’ All is a Milwaukee, WI native known for his distinct flow and noteworthy rhymes. He recently jumped back in the game after a bit of a hiatus to begin a promo wave for his next anticipated project, Persona Non-Grata. “Pay Attention” is the first officially released single from the pending collective. It spans just over 3 minutes and serves as a message that he’s not like any other artist.
The production here is sleek. The hearty foundation, charismatic musical ingredients, cruising tempo, and smooth vibe make for a winning combination. The hook is straight forward. The sarcastic laced delivery and pointed lyrics are a catchy pairing. The verses are classic Son Em’ All. The signature flow, crafty wordplay, and self-assured rhymes definitely paint a vivid picture of the 414 emcee. A few standout lines include: “Can’t bring me nobody. I met them once already. If we ain’t still rocking from the first then it’s deaded. Higher plane, higher playing field, higher taxes. It’s memories inside of my sleep number – the mattress. I am the I am of pen strokes. Here to massacre like two white kids up under trench-coats.” Those are some wild bars right there. Especially the last portion. Overall, this a proper first single.
**My Two Cents: Son Em’ All wanted listeners’ attention and this song will give him what he’s asking for. The beat is well done and the content is on point. He came out of the gate swinging which sets a high bar for Persona Non-Grata. But if you know Son, that should come as no surprise. I can’t wait to hear more.
