Superstar rapper-turned-country crooner faces off in court as ex seeks primary custody of their daughter-what we know, what’s sealed, and who’s standing by his side
Behind the chart-topping hits and headline-grabbing Coachella sets, Post Malone—born Austin Post—is fighting a more personal battle. According to court documents filed in Los Angeles, the Grammy-nominated artist’s ex-fiancée, Hee Sung “Jamie” Park, is seeking primary physical custody of their 2½-year-old daughter.
First reported by TMZ and confirmed by People, Park filed her petition on April 18, requesting full-time custody while agreeing to grant Post visitation and shared legal custody. She also asked that he cover her legal fees.
Though the ink is fresh on Park’s filings, Post has already made legal moves of his own. The Sunflower star reportedly submitted sealed court documents in Utah ahead of Park’s filing—but the details remain locked behind courthouse doors. As of now, he has made no public statements on the case.
The low-profile pair were first linked back in 2020, spotted at an airport before their relationship gradually moved into the spotlight. The couple announced they were expecting in May 2022, but their romance fizzled by early 2024, just before news of the custody dispute broke. Since then, Post has been seen stepping out with new girlfriend Christy Lee, with the couple photographed vacationing in Rome and dining across L.A.
While his personal life plays out in court, Post isn’t slowing down professionally. He’s gearing up to hit the road for his “Big A*s Stadium Tour” alongside Jelly Roll and Sierra Ferrell, launching April 29 in Salt Lake City and wrapping July 1 in San Francisco. He also turned heads with back-to-back Coachella sets, further solidifying his genre-hopping status.
Post has long kept his daughter’s life under wraps, telling People in a 2023 interview:
“I feel like a lot of people feel entitled to know every single detail of everyone’s life, and it’s why I don’t want to post any pictures of my baby. I want her to be able to make that decision whenever she wants to and is ready.”
For a star who’s mastered vulnerability in his music, Post is drawing a firm line when it comes to fatherhood—opting for silence over spectacle. But as this custody case unfolds, fans and critics alike are watching to see whether the private man behind the platinum plaques can keep control of what matters most.
